Custom Harry Dresden Doll

After reading the last volume in the Dresden Files, I wanted a Harry doll. Badly. I saw me a Ken doll on toysrus.com and had to customize him.

I started by making the smallest and finest accessory. His penacle is a jewelry ring with wire twisted into a star shape.

The main problem with fashion dolls is that they have no articulation. That can't hold anything! I started on the doll by boiling a pot of water and heating up his arms so I could pose him in a more realistic manner. I also cut his fingers apart and now he can actually hold objects (though there is a clear vinal band helping his staff stay in place in the photo).

I colored his hair from sandy blonde to brown with a Sharpie marker. I then added little dots of brown and black marker around his face to simulate not saving in several days. Harry's hygene could be better. I then messed up his jeans by taking sandpaper to the knees and the cuffs. Smooshed in some black paint for stains and dry brushed some white for an even rougher wear pattern. The coat and t-shirt are custom made. The hat is a witch's hat with the cone cut down and hot-glued.

The decal on the shirt is from the TV series Firefly.
